compiz config desktops

Hi, I wanted to ask this on compiz.org, but I can't. Every time I log in, then click new thread, I get lead back to login again. So if any of you can contact them, please tell them there is a problem!

Using Ubuntu, I have Compiz Config Settings Manager installed.

Under General Options, there is a tab Desktop Size

I like 3 X 3 so I set horizontal virtual size 3, vertical virtual size 3

I thought I then needed Number of Desktops set to 9. However, when I had that at 9, windows would disappear. I click on the top bar of the window, and say move to desktop right, and bam, the window disappeared.

So I assume, Virtual Desktops are not the same as Desktops. Is that right?

Evidently there is a difference between the 2 technologies:-
http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/...alization.html

Each DE has to have it's own color depth and resolution and the practice of including the use of interlacing.
If I had to guess setting the amount of DE set to 9 might be to high for a graphics card to handle-

Does changing your setting (less desktop environments) in the Compiz Fusion Manager help?

I do not know, but my guess is it should not, since only one desktop is shown at a time. And Awesome has nine desktops with the default configuration. Of course, I am assuming Compiz's definition of a virtual desktop is the same as everyone else's.

No, I do not get any error message. I now have the virtual desktops set to 3X3 and number of desktops at 1. This works fine.
