Unhappy Compiling - Installing Vorbis...libvorbis

I'm running GNUstep under Redhat 9.0 and am implementing sound in the environment.

I'm in the process of building the following packages (in order):

SDL-1.2.6 (compiled/installled)
SDL_sound-0.1.5 (compiled/installled)
libao-0.8.4 (compiled/installled)
libogg-1.0 (compiled/installled)
libvorbis-1.0 (compiled/installled)
vorbis-tools-1.0 (compiled/installled)
musicbox
cdplayer-0.4.0
burn-0.3.6

the musicbox consists of the following projects:
Cddb.bundle (compiled/installled/tested)
Mixer.app (compiled/installled/tested)
ShengGuang
MusicBox

The trouble occurs in ShengGuang, a library used by MusicBox for audio control. When running configure ShengGuang fails to see the Vorbis libs located in /usr/local/lib. The configure script sees the headers in /usr/local/include/vorbis because when it compiles the test program (conftest.c) the program compiles and runs with no problem.

But upon execution there is a "Segmentation fault" which the configure script interprets as not seeing the Vorbis libs.

I've tried everything from ld.so.conf to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, without success. there is a configure option to disable the test, but i dont want to do that and have problems down the road.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, i'd appreciate it.

I found out that the problem is with the original programmer's test program...by using the --disable-vorbistest everything compiles fine.

...also make sure you have the latest cvs...that also solved a lot of problems for me.
