I have spent hours searching this site and using the guidance provided by others and I can't seem to get my ip_wccp.c to compile. I am very new to linux so please bear with me if I am asking a very newbie like question.
I have 2 Dell 650 P4 servers with 2gig of RAM running Linux Advanced Server 2.1.
Kernel 2.4.9-e.3
On one server I got the ip_wccp.c to compile correctly but on the 2nd one it won't. Can someone give me a link with detailed instructions for compiling or post in here detailed compile commands so I can get this to work?
The messages I receive:
/lib/modules/2.4.9-e.3/kernel/net/ipv4/ip_wccp.c:12:664: warning: null character(s) ignored

This is a shot in the dark, but did you open that file on windows before moving it to machine #2? If so you need to turn run fromdos on it to get a textfile without the stupid control characters in it.
There was no windows machine involved. This was downloaded via "wget" directly to the linux server. This same file worked on the first server. I did exactly the same from one to the other. I installed the OS on both servers today. These servers are identical in hardware and software.
