Compiling GMP 4.2.2 with ABI=64 on Mac OS X 10.5.3, (Darwin 9.3.0)

I own a MacBook 1G (Core Duo), which has 64-bit capabilities.

I am in the process of compiling the GMP library for a personal project on this machine, but configure compiles the library with an ABI of 32, instead of 64.

I know my Core Duo is 64-bit, but config.guess is telling configure that my native build flag is pentium3-apple-darwin9.3.0.

I've heard that there have been issues compiling this library on OS X before, but that these compile/make issues have been resolved with the release of GMP 4.2.2.

I'd like to compile the GMP library with an ABI of 64 to be able to take advantage of the 64-bit pointers and registers.

I am guessing configure is choosing 32 as an ABI because of the pentium3 processor flag in the --build flag (--build=pentium3-apple-darwin9.3.0).

Does anyone have suggestions?
