Compiled Kernel>little problems

hello, finally I've compiled the 2.4.21 kernel version in my red hat 9, but I don't have sound...I can't listen any mp3,background sounds, etc; I was thinking that the problem is because I disable the support for SiS chipset in the kernel, because always send me an error when I was compiling it, but I leave the AGP support and the SiS graphics card with AGP, and any error, any solution????, I've a SiS chipset, thanks
