Unhappy Compile kernel with sound support

I have a newly installed Slackware 9.1 system . I am running kernel 2.4.22 . My pc is a Dell Smartstep 200N Laptop. Everything is working except for my sound. I visited the linux laptops website for information about fixing the sound and the following is the only information I could find:

Intel Corp. 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio
The Intel I810 ICH drivers work perfectly.
Related Kernel Options: CONFIG_SOUND, CONFIG_SOUND_ICH

I am assuming it wants me to recompile my kernel with the config_sound, or Config_sound_ich options above, but I have never recompiled a kernel before and have no idea where to begin. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

I think the sound module for the i810/ICH is simply called i810 or i810_audio. Try to load the module, it's probably included with the shipping kernel and its modules.

modprobe i810_audio (or whatever it's called)

Sound problem

I figured out what was wrong. The modules for the sound card were loaded correctly. I did not have the sound settings in KDE configured correctly . Thanks for the reply.
