Angry Comp freezes when booting through GRUB

The only way I can get to use my computer right now is to use a boot disk I created when installing RedHat 9, which i just did today.

When it restarted, it went through the regular bios stuff, recognizing memory and everything, and then when it said "GRUB Loading Stage 2" (I need GRUB to load Windows XP, which i need to do certain things unfortunately....) the computer freezes and i need to CTRL-ALT-DEL it.

The boot disk and RedHat 9 cd were my savior....

Look at a couple of posts above this one - the same thing happened w/ someone and LILO. the boot disk works okay but hangs as soon as it starts tryin to load GRUB. BY the way... I only UPGRADED to RedHat 9 from 8, if that means anything to anyone.

Stage 1 of the boot process is the part of grub located in the MBR. Stage 2, the next part, is in the RH partition (/boot/grub ?).
Grub can't find it. You probably have to boot into RH and reinstall grub.
For future thought, you might consider the Loallin+win95 mini-HOWTO (don't let the win95 part throw you). It detail now to set up a folder in the win partiton to boot Linux. Not sure it'll work with XP unless you can boot into DOS mode.

Try booting and running:
/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda

This will reinstall the MBR.
