communicate between 2 computers at different locations

Hi, I have been called overseas at quite short notice. While overseas I would like to be able to have a look at my desktop (Fedora 23) here in Sydney. I am taking my laptop which runs W7 & Fedora 22. I have no VPN setup on my router.

I am looking at a tool which can be set up easily to allow communication. An example is a cross platform GUI based application I used a few years ago. This app worked as follows:
  • install on both computers and generate private keys on both
  • from the application on the laptop attempt to connect using the partner private key
  • Your connection takes you to the application running on the desktop and you can then navigate around the desktop
The trouble is I can't remember the name of this application. If anyone can help me name the app or something similar I would be grateful.

Cheers

that's it. I am sure I had it working under linux before but not in the fedora repos (maybe in non-free?).

There is an RPM download over on their website. Hmmm, I have recently tried to avoid stuff which is not in the repos. Not really sure why. I'll mull over whether to install.

Thanks

EDIT: I suppose a folow up is...any experiences with team viewer on linux?
