Comment on Scribus
Hi folks,
Has any folk used Scribus, a page layout program for GNU/Linux, similar to Adobe PageMaker, QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign. Any comment? I am searching from open source a replacement for Adobe Acrobat running on Unix/Linux which can touch .pdf file. Can Scribus work for it. TIA B.R. satimis |
No, it can't.
Very few programs can edit PDFs. PDFs weren't made for that, they really are "read only". If you want to create PDFs though, there are lots of choices. Scribus can, and the easiest way is with OpenOffice. It can export to PDF. If you want to make nice looking documents though, LaTeX can export to PDF along with many other formats, and it's a great typesetting language. Its very easy to learn. So those are your choices, for image-heavy things, Scribus is probably a good choice, for text (book, article, etc) like stuff, LaTeX is the best choice. |

Tks for your advice. What I need is adding NOTE and/or erasing a section or a line on .pdf document. Acorbat has these features. B.R. satimis |
