Command to start mozilla and ximian


Is it possible to open mozilla or Ximian through the shell Cuz I don't login alot mainly just stay in shell ( well i try to....don't wanna get hooked on gui ) so how could i do that i tried just puting "mozilla" but it doesn't do anything. HELP?

Do you mean without X running? That won't work, they are GUIs that require X. You need command line browser/email client to work without X.

how would i open a file through shell like i wanna open nsswitch.conf how would i do that?

pico is a good editor
midnigh commander
mc
is a greate terminal shell
vi/vim are also what I use, although, they are not intutive

pico /pathtofile/filename
or
mc
navigate to the dir, highlight and edit.

when i did that there were some options at the bottom like ^G Get Help and ^X exit what are those buttons i tried x and the ^ button and them together lol what is it really suposed to be?

They are all CTRL-G, CTRL-X, etc. I guess that isn't intuitive until you know it.
