Is there any freeware out there (preferably for Linux, obviously, but even Win will do) that can help me create comic strips (even though I can't draw too well)?

i take it you have never used adobe illustrator on windows
nor the FREE Inkscape vector drawing program

inkescape will be in your OS's repos

I looked 2 years ago for a quick and dirty way of doing it (meaning: 1) choose the image and then 2) type in the text) but didn't find anything OS-based.
There were some web-based solutions that do work but at least at that time they didn't have many "themes/context".
