Hi, I'm trying to get color to work for me in emacs, but it just isn't happening. I'm running redhat 7.3 and I am telneting into my box and running emacs that way. If it matters I installed emacs with the up2date command because I didn't want it when I first installed linux. I've recently started using another server (redhat 8.0) and color works just fine in emacs when I telnet into that server. On my 7.3 box color works just fine for ls but for somereason emacs has problems with it. If I do
f10 ==> Exit ==> Text properties ==> Display Colors the bottom half of the split window is just blank. Like maybe there aren't defined or something? I'm lost. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest you to press
Alt+X
and then type
font-lock-mode

now colors should appear

Thanks a bunch man! font-lock-mode works! ... but how do I load it automatically with emacs? and also...it works on my redhat 7.3 box...but it doesn't work on my redhat 7.1 box....however colors comeback with ls.
