color corruption, openchrome, amilo laptop

I got the same problem as this guy: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...e/+bug/1122991
except with a different model of laptop.
I've tried various distros: debian, ubuntu, fedora, but no luck.
Is there a way to fix it without using vesa driver?

thanks.

What graphics driver are you using?

the bugreport quotes several possible fixes/improvements/workarounds.
have you tried, and was there some improvement?
what's your amilo model?

fwiw, i once had an amilo with one of those via graphical chipsets, and in the end i just gave up on trying to get openchrome to work, and was happy that it (linux) worked at all.
amilos used to suck.
but by all means, go through this wiki:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Openchrome/
maybe you'll get your fix.

no, thanks.
I've tried some more and the only two distros that seem to work are openSUSE and Knoppix.
Knoppix has some strange issues with touchpad (freezes if not used) though, so I'll go with SUSE.
