Color background in text mode

Hi,

I think that it can be much comfortable to see the background in blue color with the foreground text in white or yellow, instead of the classic black background and white foreground text.

How can I tweak the .bash_profile( or whatsoever other file) to do it?

This question is for text mode operation, not Xorg operation.

Thanks
