Collaborative writting

Hi,

I'm looking for a software to write texts in a collaborative environement, ie many persons working on the same text. A software that can log who did what and show difference between versions. I first thought about a wiki but there's some problem. Wiki is not user friendly for people who don't know anything about script formatting and it is not suitable for long text (I mean like 20 pages). And you have to be connected to internet.

I don't know if such a thing exist. I've made some google search but didn't found anything.

Thanks in advance.

You can use a version control system like CVS. The learning curve is a bit steep, but there are GUI front ends for Windows. People can edit files locally on their own machines and then upload them to a common repository. CVS does version tracking automagically, so you can easily see who changed what and rollback changes if necessary.

I thought about this. The problem for this solutions is :

If you use a file format using XML or whatever the user need to understand this file format to understand what is in the CVS. He can see the different versions but not differences between versions.
