clonezilla - cloning windows 10 device to image

hi all,

im in the process of cloning windows 10 hard drive to an image file (device-image) on a samba server

the device with windows 10 is on is 320g, so does that mean from now on the hard drives i want to deploy this image to needs to be equal or more than 320g?

also in wds i sysprep it using OOBE and Generalize to make every new image brand new, is there a way i can do it with clonezilla as arnt they going to have the same pc names etc etc

many thanks,

rob

Yes, any destination devices have to be as large as the source device when the backup is a device backup. If you want to go to a smaller drive I suggest shrinking your partition and backup up partitions. As for generalizing images with clonezilla, I don't think it supports that. You have to generalize it before you make the image.

how do i generalise before making the image?

Sorry, I can't help with that. I use clonezilla for backups. Haven't had a need for base images since we moved all our users onto TS (long time ago). Sysprep?

oh... so its the same method as to if i want to sysprep it to my WDS server

sysprep /oobe /generalize /shutdown

Sounds reasonable. Obviously testing can prevent great disappointment later. ;)
