CLI Shells, Anything other than CLISH?

Hello all,

I am aware of CLISH (http://clish.sourceforge.net/) for implementing a cisco-like CLI in linux but I am curious if anyone knows of any other good/better alternatives?

Thanks!

That depends on what you want. Are you looking for a CLI (Command Line Interface) or for a "Cisco like" CLI?

The main shell used in most Linux distros is bash but others such as dash, csh, ksh and many more are available but these are not "Cisco like" except that they are CLI.

UNIX started with csh (C shell) and sh (Bourne shell). Later ksh (Korn shell) was created to give some of the extra functionality of C shell to Bourne shell. Bash = Bourne Again Shell as it is an enhancement of Bourne shell that shares many features with Korn shell. Also some UNIX flavors (HP-UX for example) have sh as the Posix sh which is also more like ksh/bash than the original Bourne shell.

I'd recommend learning ksh/bash as those will exist on >90% of UNIX/Linux systems you run across.
