CLI editor with standard M$ keyboard shortcuts

I've been fiddling with linux for quite some time now, but I haven't found a CLI editor that supports the standard M$ keyboard shortcuts I've grown familiar with.

e.g. CTRL+S saves, SHIFT+END selects to the end of the line, etc

I am aware that emacs & vi have very powerful keyboard mappings but I don't understand why I should learn them when I already know a widely used one. Besides both gEdit and kWrite support them so it's only when I use the CLI to edit some configuration files or log in with ssh that I'm stuck with vi/emacs.

You won't find it.
Live with it, dare to learn something new.

I love vim and I don't use anything else for editing, but if you find it awkward to get started with you might want to check out Cream. I have heard lots of good things about it but I never used it myself.

It's not that I'm afraid to learn something new. But:

I don't understand why these keybindings are so "broke" I have relearn a whole different set

Why do these popular *nix CLI editors shun certain keys because they didn't _used to_ be on all keyboards ? I've never even seen a keyboard without CTRL/ALT/HOME/END/PGUP/PGDN keys, much less used one.

Besides, I've learnt by now that linux is all about choice and if someone wanted to use different keybindings, it's likely that some open source programmer hacked something together

But if you're right about the lack of such an editor, I finally have a useful programming project
