CLI CD audio player with digital extraction?
I like to use a CLI audio-cd player, just like cdcd or cdtools (I prefere the first).
But I think most of these cli audio player doesn't support digital audio extraction. So if you don't have an analog wire between CD-ROM device and audio card, there will be no audio output. Nowadays most of DVD devices come with S-SCSI connector, but without analog audio output.

Does anybody knows if any other CLI player supports audio extraction.
I know mplayer plays audio-cd two and in CLI. But I'm not sure if you can "jump" the tracks or if it's played just like a single audio stream. That happends, for example, with MPD.

Kind regards,

I apologize for answering without being sure if this software helps (I used it a very long time ago), but did you try cdplay (

Thank you for your advice. I downloaded and built cdplayer. But I'm affraid it works just like other CLI audio players, audio output might use analog device output which is not present in my DVD SCSI device.

What is wrong with mplayer ?

Does mplayer allows you to jump to next track from cli when you are playing mplayer cdda:/ ?
With cdcd for example you can do:

cdcd next
MPD also plays cdda just like a single stream of data, with no chance to jump over tracks.

Really I don't know if same behaviour would be possible with mplayer... I so, would be great for me.

I don't really know, I've never tried doing it. You should try it.

I'll try it and I'll let you know.

Yeah, is possible to jump over tracks with mplayer. With chars '!' and '@'.
I remembered I had do it sometime.

I'll check hoy to integrate mplayer with lirc and that's all I need.
