I'm curious if database.clamav.net is down? All during the day today, whenever I try to run freshclam, I keep getting the following message in my clamav log:
Quote:
ClamAV update process started at Mon Mar 22 22:30:01 2004
ERROR: Can't get information about database.clamav.net host.
ERROR: Connection with database.clamav.net (IP: ???) failed.
Trying again...

When I try to ping database.clamav.net I get
Quote:
ping: unknown host: database.clamav.net
Anyone else experiencing this? Or is the problem at my end?

It's up. They made a DNS change today that made the DNS packet go from UDP to TCP (due to size). You may want to ensure your firewall rules are setup appropriately.

I'm not sure I understand. I have freshclam set up in my crontab, so that it automatically updates the virus definitions once a day. Freshclam uses the config file /etc/freshclam.conf I believe, but I don't see anything in there about UDP or TCP. And the only firewall I have running is a Netgear firewall router which doesn't run linux.
