Citrix Thin Client question

I've looked into pxeboot and etherboot options but I don't like the whole relying on a tftp server to supply the images, is there anyway (that works) to have these run off of a local hd?

I've found another option, pxes-universal thin client that works incredible if you don't mind relying on a tftp server, supposedly you can install this on the hard drive, but I haven't had any luck making it work. Either the machine chokes on the ramdisk image or I get an error,
kernel panic: unable to mount fs "/" try passing a proper root= option or something along those lines

I'll post the exact error tomorrow from work.

I was hoping that someone may point me in the proper direction or maybe suggest an alternative?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
