Question cinelerra time line question...

i have 2 video tracks in cinelerra. in one is a 2 minute quicktime clip. in the second, at the one minute mark, i want to place a second clip that is 30 seconds. each time i drop the file into the second track, it snaps to the beginning and try as i may i cannot get it to move to where i want it. how do i do such a simple thing? is something malfunctioning? i have tried the alt, ctrl, shift keys with mouse drags, tried all 3 mouse buttons in different combos and still cant get that sucker to move! i've tried it under both editing modes, cut and paste and drag and drop. no luck. aaargh!
