chrooting httpd+squirrelmail problem.

hi!
i have a problem and this is the situation. i have successfully chrooted httpd but i'm having problem with squirrelmail. squirrel mail is installed by yum. i already copied all the files needed by squirrelmail to the jail but i keep having this error:

Quote:
Warning: main(../config/config.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 18

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../config/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 18
i already checked the permission or ownership but still won't work.

any knows?

You'll need to provide info how the location of where you chrooted Apache. Since PHP runs in an Apache environment, your chroot setting might prevent it from accessing the files it wants.

See if you can install SquirrelMail in a subdirectory of the "root" of the filesystem Apache can actually see.

Peace...

oh thanks for the info. by the way this problem is already been solved. I checked the files that the squirrelmail needed and i noticed that config.php is a dead symbolic link. Just replace that link and boom! I have no errors anymore in logs and in web browser and I also don't have a log-in page! :-(
What should I do? No errors and no log-in page?

Yep, take heed of the disadvantage:

Quote:
A chroot environment is more difficult to set up than a traditional install, especially if you run external software such as Perl, PHP, MySQL, or Python.

The process is only viable if your entire Web tree can exist on a single filesystem.

If Apache works after following the process you did, I would re-install SquirrelMail using the chrooted Apache and don't simply copy anything. SquirrelMail when installed in a non-chrooted Apache can't be expected to work in a chrooted environment. So, re-install and hope for the best.

Peace...

just for the record. I realize that squirrelmail is easy to back-up, So I did a fresh install of squirrelmail to the chrooted apache.

and the work is done!
