chron job locks redhat 9 up.

I have scheduled mirrodir to backup the root directory of my box. It is set to run at 2am nightly. I can run the command "mirrordir --exclude /mnt / /mnt/usb/mirror" in the webmin and it produces:
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/2/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/3/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/8/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/4/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/5/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/6/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/7/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/9/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/10/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/14/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/72/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/371/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/372/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/452/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/453/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/454/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/455/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/456/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/513/exe: No such file or directory
mirrordir: error trying read symlink: /proc/1799/fd/3: No such file or directory
but will mirror the files.
When it tries to run at night the system locks up.

I stand like a deer in the headlights, awaiting your quick response.

I would exclude the entire /proc directory... It's all dynamic and not worth anything to a backup.
