Chromium: No switch to enable Live Captions

The issue is that on one of my computers, I don't have the switch to enable live captions, and I don't know why. Is there some system requirement? Some dependency I need to install?

Attached are some screenshots, one showing the mising "Live Caption" switch.

The other is from a different computer, but I used a 32-bit 1CPU 1GB virtual machine to try to see if it was a hardware requirement, and it still works even then. So I dont think its a hardware requirement, so what could it be?

Both machines use the same nvidia-340 proprietary driver.

What makes you think this is a Linux issue, rather than a Chromium bug? Or even just a difference in versions?

Have you checked what the Chromium documentation says about it, or done any web searches?

I don't think it's a linux issue, I think its a software issue, this is the software section. It may affect other OS too for all I know, but I use Linux.

I don't think it's a difference in versions cuz I'm trying the same version on multiple computers. Also, the same thing happens with google chrome. And it's supposed to work since version 92 or something (I forgot exact version).

Yes, I've done web searches. The only related thing I found is for chromebook, saying that if the switch isn't there, the device doesn't support it. So that's what led me to believe it could possibly be a hardware requirement, but my experiment in VM couldn't find what hardware it might need, since 32-bit 1CPU 1GB works....
