Chromium crashing if bookmarks scrolled by mouse wheel?

If i go to Booksmarks menu and scroll down booksmarks by mouse wheel, chromium crashes. However if i just use the down arrow in the menu to scroll, it won't crash. This didn't happen before, just few days ago i noticed this problem.

Details:

Version 64.0.3282.140 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on LinuxMint 18.2 (64-bit)

I suppose this is related from the syslog:

kernel: [ 890.267707] traps: chromium-browse[2436] trap int3 ip:xxxxxxxxxxxx sp:xxxxxxxxxxxx error:0 in chromium-browser[xxxxxxxxxxxx+xxxxxxx]

Tell me if i need to make visible some of those xxxxxed data. Just i don't know what are these all hex things better safe than sorry.

Any thoughts why it does that? Should i just try remove&reinstall?

Uninstall any addons might fix this issue also. Might be a hinky addon.

I suppose it's not caused by addons, i have only addblock plus, and i have had it long time. Though there was recently Chromium's update maybe it caused something with Addblock though i suppose more people should have this problem not just me.

Trust me, you arent the only one experiencing it. I also started experiencing it a week or more ago, after a Chromium update. It crashes any time the wheel is used to initiate scrolling through bookmarks. If I initiate scrolling with the down arrow, I can then switch, and continue scrolling with the mouse wheel. But, if I initiate scrolling with the mouse wheel, Chromium crashes.

Chromium Version 64.0.3282.140 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu, running on LinuxMint 18 (64-bit)

FYI, its not an extension, as I can disable all extensions, restart, and the issue is still there.

No crashes for me. Works fine.

Per Chromium's help menu, and per apt-cache, ... I'm running the exact same release of the browser as you:

Code:
Version 64.0.3282.140 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on LinuxMint 18 (64-bit)
Code:
$ apt-cache policy chromium-browser
chromium-browser:
  Installed: 64.0.3282.140-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Candidate: 64.0.3282.140-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 64.0.3282.140-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 500
        500 http://mirrors.xmission.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages
        500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     49.0.2623.108-0ubuntu1.1233 500
        500 http://mirrors.xmission.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
$
However, my version of LinuxMint is behind yours:

Code:
$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:	LinuxMint
Description:	Linux Mint 18 Sarah
Release:	18
Codename:	sarah
$
I scroll bookmarks all the time with my thumbwheel. Several times a day. I've never experienced any problem. Verified just now using first a Logitech M705 mouse, and then using a Logitech M570 trackball. Both are wireless/USB. No special drivers or other software is installed to support these - I'm using whatever comes in the kernel.

Wish I could help, since our setups are similar, but I can't duplicate the problem.

p.s. - I run the AdBlock Plus browser extension too, just like you.

It could possibly be a Mint issue I guess. I know it was a kernel issue that hosed up my HDMI sound on all 3 of my AMD machines a couple years ago, so anything is possible. I just find it hard to believe that only 2 people have this issue. I wish I knew how to take a recording of my screen, I would do so and link it to show.

Then again, it has to be something in Chromium, as I have the exact same number of bookmarks, in the exact same folders, setup the exact same way in Firefox.... but Firefox doesnt crash.

It has to be something with amount of bookmarks in a folder, or something to do with naming/characters or something/.

Fast Mouse Scroll and Chromium Crashes

I just started to have this issue. Fast Scroll the mouse wheel on my Logitech M217 Mouse using Linux 18.2.
Google Chromium Crashes if I FAST SCROLL the MOUSE WHEEL WHILE DISPLAYED THE BOOKMARKS DROP DOWN.
When I restart Chromium I am asked if I want to use my usual start up home screen or go back to where I left?
This crash just started about 2 days ago.

THE CHROME FIX:

chrome://flags/#disable-smooth-scrolling

--> ENABLE <----------

Version 64.0.3282.167 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on LinuxMint 18.2 (64-bit)
