Recently used the Synaptic package manager to update Chromium on my Debian based system. Everything went well, except now my bookmark manager is a blank page. And I don't mean just "no bookmarks" I mean no bookmark manager controls, no nothing.
Checked the Google Chrome help desk, and several people seem to be experiencing the same problem, and the google tech support people seem to be completely oblivious to the problem
Not sure who that "Prashant Sharma" character is in the google help forum, but he seems unable to grasp that people are not looking for the opportunity to surrender additional device information to the borg by sync'ing, just want to manage bookmarks locally.
Thanks!! The interesting thing is that at the google help desk that I linked to, numerous people were reporting the very problem that I am experiencing, including a couple stating that they are using chromium.
While at the site you provide, no acknowledgement is made of such a problem, including running a search in the "bug reports" section for "bookmark manager"..nary a mention. (of blank bookmark manager)
Reading several pages into the general discussion section, I get the feeling they are more interested in sharing information between people actually building the browser, than they are in addressing individual user difficulties. Most reported difficulties don't even get a response
perhaps they are over my head?

You are going to google chrome support for assistance with chromium? Two different apps and maintained by different organizations.
Interesting thing about that, when I select "About Chromium" from the browser's "customize and control" utility, it puts up the customary page listing version number, copyright info, etc and includes a link reading "Get Help with Chromium".
And clicking on that link delivers you to the support.google.com/chrome "help desk" that I referenced earlier. jfyi
