Chosing KDE

In my sessions window where I can chose what desktop I want I see kde and kde.rpm.new but when I chose them I get the screen showing that its loading and says its loading, but then it just goes blank.

What is kde.rpm.new? Is it an rpm that you've downloaded recently? Have you tried installing it then restarting kde? What session manager are you using? Kdm, gdm, xdm? Have you ever been able to use kde before?

EEEEEK did I mention that Im still a newbie yet. I installed RH 9 and by default only gnome is installed. I tried to install kde through add/remove software.

As far as a session manager I have no idea, just what was loaded by default with RH.

The rpm I am not sure how that got there, but I would like to be able to remove it.

Edit: I can see most of the kde programs in the menu list though, when in gnome.
