Chinese input using SCIM in OpenOffice

Hi all

Any (simplified) Chinese language users managed to get SCIM working with OpenOffice? It is working fine in other applications including AbiWord but no joy in OOo. I'm not a particularly good Chinese reader/writer so am finding it difficult finding any help online - am guessing there will be loads of stuff available in Chinese out there!

Thanks

hi,

type "chinese input" in the LinuxQuestions.org forum search field, you will get a lot of threads/posts about this subject that should solve your problem, but you have to read a bit first!

cheers,

Check if you have XMODIFIER set to =@im=SCIM (case matters) before you start Open Office. Most likly thats all you need to get it work. This is what I have to get my applications including Open Office to work.

export LANG=zh_TW # I use traditional font
export LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 # I still want to menus to be in english
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM # again case MATTERS.

I hope this solves your problem.

Hi !

I just installed scim-pinyin, scim-tables & scim-chewing on a Mandriva 2005 (Mandrake 10.2), and Chinese input works like a charm in OOwriter (like with others apps :)

Just changed to Ubuntu (which I am loving) and got SCIM working with OOo very easily - great guide on the Ubuntu forums
