chinese application on linux

Hi all,

I just joined this forum and I am relatively new on Linux.

My problem is that I am not able to see Chinese scripts on my linux box.

I have RH2.4.20-31.9smp. glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.rpm is installed.

The language related dynmaic libraries are installed in /usr/lib/gconv. This has EUC-CN.so which is the library for Simplified Chinese. I open a web page. It has a button for changing the text to Chinese. On clicking that the text doesn't change to Chinese, but to unicode like numbers.

So the question is what should I do to see the chinese characters.

This is part of the bigger problem. My actual problem is that I am developing a UI application which is Internationalized. It works for European languages. But when I tried chinese, it didn't.
Trying to figure this out I found that i am not able to see chinese chars on other web pages too.

I really appreciate any help.

thanks in advance.

shailesh

I believe that Turbo Linux is developed specifically for the Chinese audience.
