checkinstall...

was reading the checkinstall's readme file, in which it says, if was used to build the xfree86 the package would not be constructed properly as binaries are being stripped. by the following process...

can anyone please tell me what does "Striping ELF binaries and libraries" mean...

I guess it does what strip utility does (check man strip)
it strips the symbols from the object/libraries so as to make it small.
