Checking root's mail with ipop3

Hey,

I'm afraid i'm a newbie to this so please excuse any obvious questions I might ask! I currently have ipop3 set up on a RH 9.0 machine. It lets me check the email of all users from outlook on windows perfectly - apart from root's mail.

Is there a config file where i can allow myself to do this, or a way that I can route root's mail to another user and check it that way?

Hi Ben, and welcome to LinuxQuestions!

Checking root's mail is disabled by default on most distributions for security reasons, but you can indeed re-route root's mail to another user (that's how it's normally done). You will probably have a file called /etc/aliases or /etc/mail/aliases in which you can specify what user to send root's mail to.

pico /etc/aliases did the job.
