Check difference


I have two files that they are in different servers , the file content should be the same , can advise if I want to check to make sure they are the same , what is the best way ? is there any way to check without copy the file to another server ? thx

If you just want to know if they're the same or different, without knowing what those differences are, you can just compare their hashes, using e.g. md5sum or sha1sum.

If you can access the remote server via ssh:

ssh user@host "cat /path/to/remote/file" | diff - /path/to/local/file
