Hi,

Can somebody tell me what are the better software avialable for

-> IRC Chat
-> Newsgroup server
-> Fax server
-> Ftp server

The best IRC program IMHO is either X-Chat (www.xchat.org) if you like GUI, or irssi (irssi.org) if you like command line.

I agree with MasterC that proftpd will work good for FTP.

For Newgroup I highly recommend Leafnode, anything else I have ever seen was very very hard to configure.

I dont know about fax software, but there is bound to be some around.

I don't know whether or not it's good, but I have read several times about a fax application called:

If you run RedHat the ftp server vsftpd is included.

Try 'service vsftpd start' and edit the /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf file for user permissions etc...
