gaim supports yahoo. You can also download the ymessenger that yahoo offers for *nix variants.

I have no suggestions about gaim but I can suggest getting (I think) Ychat for Windows because it was built to run through Wine. I have it working and it works good through Wine.

Use Zinc or Curphoo, both work fine in yahoo chat
(though with new install of slack, having trouble with color not being called.. )
But thats a ncurses problem.. not the clients

My gaim connects to yahoo pretty well. You have to change the server address of Yahoo to this --> scs.msg.yahoo.com
It seems Yahoo changed their address!!!

Hi Ultimaguy
Your info is correct.Sometime back using scs.msg.yahoo.com was the trick.
But _NOW_ its all complicated ..doent work for *CHAT* (not IM)
Are you able to go to chatrooms using Gaim now?
btw Gaim-0.75 does this server setting for you, automatically.
adios

If you have java support in your web browser you can use the built in java chat that yahoo provides.
