chat client for Gnome

Greetings,

I'm wondering which chat client everyone uses. I'm running Fedora Core 4 with Gnome and currently using GAIM as my chat client. However I'm not completely satisfied with GAIM, for two reasons:

1.) I cannot adjust the width of my buddy list window. Maybe I just haven't found the feature to do so. If that's the case, please tell me.

2.) It seems that GAIM does not remember the last position of a chat window. I like having my chat windows open in the bottom right corner of my screen and GAIM seems to throw them in the center of my screen.

I'm used to using AIM on Windows then applying the hack to remove ad-aware. I know these are two picky features but hopefully there's a chat client out there that can satisfy me. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your time,

Nick

Gaim.

Positions/dimensions of windows is down to the window manager. EG fluxbox has a right click menu to remember settings on title bar, and I seem to remember kde has similar.

The problem with gaim is that these settings get used for all windows - so if you resize your buddy list then chat windows also open the same dimensions, and vice versa.

Having said that I still find gaim to to be a good chat prog. Just a bit annoying about the windows.

I found a way to resize the buddylist in GAIM:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=270142

Now only if there were a way to make GAIM remember where on the desktop to open i.m. windows.
