Chasing Dependancies - An easier way?
I have been spending the last 3 hours chasing dependancies just trying to get that damned amsn traydock to work. So now on the verge of insanity, and seemingly making little-to-no progress, I'm left thinking: "There's got to be an easier way."
I wonder if there is a way to add other sources to the rpmdrake "Install Software" database. If so, my stress level would be greatly reduced. I'm a total linux newb running Mandrake 9.2, so if anyone of you has any suggestions or tricks to make my life easier, I would greatly appreciate it. TIA, HCLogo PS: I am familiar with rpmseek.com , but this doesn't make it a whole lot easier as I still end up endless dependancy chains. |

I can't even begin to explain how thankful I am.
You may have just saved me from a nervous breakdown! :D So far, it seems to be working great. |
glad I could help :)
rpmdrake/urpmi works fine. It's one of the best things about mandrake. But there's one thing you should know. Sometimes, rpmdrake/urpmi will tell you that it'll have to uninstall a few things. Make sure to note down what gets uninstalled so you can re-install the stuff manually if necessary. Also, if you get a whole list, it's best not to proceed since it will most likely break things. It often happens when you try to upgrade things using cooker. |
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep that in mind.
