Changing shell DISPLAY parameters
I'm very new to Linux and I've set up a Red Hat Advanced Server 4 box. I downloaded a 90 day trial of Domino 7 server and I've run into a problem during installation.
The initial package installation went smoothly, but at the point where Domino wants to start their GUI to actually install and configure the Domino Server I get the following error: Please change the shell DISPLAY paramaters in order to proceed. I found a posting on another forum where the guy was running SUSE and using Yast when he ran into the same problem. Unfortunately I can't find the settings he's talking about or the file he's editing through Yast. It appears that he's setting a parameter for port TCP_6000 to Yes. Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to install and configure XWindows? Thanks |
Yes you must have an X display in order to do the Domino GUI install. Actually you may have wanted to ask this in the Redhat Enterprise Linux forum -- we have one here for those sorts of questions. Also, where I work at, we were having a bit of problems installing Domino on RHEL4 -- we ended up using Suse 9 Ent for it -- or at least that's what my Domino colleague prefers. Let me know how that goes if you don't mind.

I have posted it out on the Enterprise forum. I got some good feedback there as well. It appears that I am running from the correct X Display but there is a setting that the Domino Install doesn't like. I'm trying to track down a guy who was using Yast on SUSE to see if he has an idea for RHAS. You say you had problems with RHEL4, I'm running RHAS4, think I may run into the same issues???
Thanks, Dan |
Probably but I'm not really the Domino guru in my shop ;)
