Question changing boot partotion

Hi,

i recently installed slackware 10.2 on my computer.Because i couldnt get the install to run off of my harddisk i used Vmware to install it.

Now i have the problem however that somewhere during booting there is a reference to /dev/hdd6 - this should however be /dev/hda6 when i boot 'live' (not using vmware).

Can anyone tell me where i can find (&change) this or direct me to a good explanation of what happens when linux boots?

Tx

If you are using lilo then as root;
pico -w /etc/lilo.conf
then edit and press ctrl o then enter to save and ctrl x to exit
then run /sbin/lilo just enter that in a terminal as root and press enter

If you are using grub then as root:
open /boot/grub/grub.conf and edit it.
That 's all I can help because I hardly know what were your problem (may be my English is too bad), would you mind be more specified

sorry for being a bit unclear before ...

i installed slackware on hda, but using vmware that saw it as hdc - during boot with the disks i got an error (there was no bootmanager installed yet so i had to use the disks)

Seems i had to change the fstab entries for all my partitions - after that everything worked fine

Thanks for trying to help all ... 8)
