changing avi resolution

Hey guys,
I'm currently using acidrip to pull movies off of DVDs so I can play them in my Zaurus. Is there a program that'll take an AVI file, that's say 800x600 and downconvert it to 320x240? I don't want to have to rip the movie twice.
thanks.

AcidRip should be able to do that, but if it doesn't, using MEncoder (the backend for AcidRip) with some command line options should be pretty good, check the MPlayer docs.

If not (MEncoder freezes on me ), try dvd::rip, the next best one. Loads of deps, though.

PS: Is syncing working with that thing? I never got that working .

If it isn't encoded already.... My generic command lines:
mencoder dvd://1 -ovc frameno -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -o frameno.avi
mencoder dvd://1 -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vpass=1:vbitrate=1000 -vop scale=320:240 -o Small_Movie-small.avi
mencoder dvd://1 -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vpass=2:vbitrate=1000 -vop scale=320:240 -o Small_Movie-small.avi

For dvd://1 replace "1" with the number of the title you want to rip., and ripping the audio will give you the bitrates you should use for the video (instead of 1000). You can get away with smaller bitrates if you shrink it.

On the Zaurus? If I use xVid encoding, it isn't synced. If I use lavc then the audio is synced. When I rip it for watching on the computer, I'll do a higher resolution so it looks good full screen. But if I just rip to watch on the Z, then I use 160bit rate and 320X240. It plays pretty good like that. It still skips once in a while, but it's the 5500, so it's only a 200mhz processor. Can't wait to get my hands on that sl6000!!

Try looking at this, I found it pretty good.

PS: When I said syncing, I meant syncing as in hooking the PDA up to Linux . Never got it working.

I got it working with qtopia desktop. They didn't have the source tarball available, but I downloaded the redhat rpm and it runs just fin on my Mandrake box. I was using my wireless connection to do the syncing, not the cradle. But, now that I've upgraded to the v3, it doesn't sync at all. ):
