Change the default location of mysql database files
Change the default location of mysql database files
I have installed MySQL on a Linux environment. What i would like to do is create a database but i would like to place the files related to the database in a specific location away from the default mysql location.
The reason for this is that i have a specific partition /home which i never partition when i upgrade or re-install a linux distribution. Is it possible to install the database files in this partition so that if i re-install the operating system i dont have to recreate the database?
If i do re-install the operating system, i would like to just point the mysql installation on the new OS to point to the existing database files on the /home partition. Is this possible? Or are there several config files that will need modification incase of an OS re-install?
Thanks
