If you are talking about changing your login password:

1) From the command line you can type passwd and it will first prompt you for the old password and then prompt you for the new password twice. Be aware that as you type the passwords you won't see anything happening. This is done so nobobody can read what you are typing.

2) Your system probably also has a way to do this from a graphical interface, but the details differ depending on your desktop environment (such as GNOME, KDE, etc) and perhaps distro. For example, in Gnome/Ubuntu(edgy):

System menu -> Preferences -> About Me -> Change Password

Please remember that when you post questions it is helpful if you tell us what distro (such as Ubuntu 7.10, Debian etch, Fedor 9, etc) you are using.
