Well, this may not be a very elegent way, but you could erase the k3b config file. Its located at "$HOME/.kde/share/config/k3brc", you could try moving it somewhere else just incase. There is also one in "/root/.kde/share/config/k3brc" that may have settings that override those of your user's. Try "find | grep k3b" in your home dir for a list of files and directories with k3b in the name, those might be of interest to. Don't forget, there may be files under the root user that are/could override those of your users, I know on my setup root pwd is required for those sorts of changes.
