Change from email address exim
Hello
I have set up Exim, Procmail and Mutt in a Debian testing install. I can receive and send email ok via an external smtp server, but emails that I send to not have the correct 'from' address in them ie. From : Andy Osborne <aosborne@myrealbox.com> Sent : Thursday, 10 June 2004 7:59:49 AM To : andyosborne@hotmail.com Subject : test The 'From' email should read: andyosborne@myrealbox.com As it is at present, it reflects the name of the user account I use on my local machine ie. aosborne I suspect that there is a confiuration file somewhere that I need to change. Can any one point me in the right direction. Thanks & Regards |
Add the following line to ~/.muttrc
Code:
set from="andyosborne@myrealbox.com" |
you can also set a translation rule for exim so no matter what client the mail will go out correctly
lets see make a file /etc/email-addresses in it put your local user name followed by the correct from address like this then in exim.conf add this rewrite rule adjust like above to *@what the mail is going out now as Code:
|
thank you
sorry for the delay adding from address in .muttrc conf file works a treat thank you |
