Change default Save page directory on FF 2

Howto Change the default directory/folder when I hit Ctrl-S to tell Firefox 2 to Save the page being viewed on my hard disk? I am running FF 2 on Ubuntu 7.04. Shortly after I installed, in FF I did Edit>Preferences>Always ask me where to save. Perhaps the first time I saved a page it decided to always make that the default choice for saving everything. I just redid those steps then highlighted Save to> Desktop. Then I did browse and changed Desktop to Python. Then I again chose Always ask me where to save. I doubt that this works but Now I will restart and let you know if that fixes it.

I don't think you can set a default directory to download all files using the existing configuration options (well there could be a way using about:config).

FF will reset to the last URL used if you do the right thing. I clicked on "Ask me every time." then clicked on browse and put in the url I wanted. The next restart, FF was ready to save to the URL I had used previously not the one I told it. So I saved to the URL I wanted then repeated the process and ever since it saves to the URL I used before I went through the loop.

Moderator Reddazz, how does your click here help?

I gave the answer. How does clicking on your PHP url help others to know the answer? It seemed to me that you just wanted me to click to raise your rating or to donate to your causes.

Yes, you provided the answer, but if you look at the time stamps, you posted it after my post. The point of the link is to rate someone, leave comments and a donation if you wish, so I don't see what you are complaining about since its crystal clear. The link is not part of your thread, but my signature (and a lot of other LQ members) and you do not have to click it if you do not want to rate fellow LQ members. Cheers.
