Change CharSet in MariaDB database from latin1-swedish-ci to utf8mb4

Hi.

I've been struggling with trying to change CharSet from latin1-swedish-ci to utf8mb4 im MariaDB.
I need this because of the forum program we're trying to migrate to uses this and the old one had latin1-...

I've tried a lot of different things found by googling but the Swedish letters still are not correct in the new database, so eihter the things I tested doesn't work or I didn't do it correctly, I just don't know.

Can someone tell me how to do this, bacause I sure need help.

Just fyi, it might help a lot if you would post here the "show create table XXX" of the source and destination tables.
Just to be 100% sure about the starting situation

Cheers

@Pearlseattle, that I can't do straight away since the code for all this is in a migration tool that does the job. I can look for it but as it seems I do not need any help anymore......

I figured it out. There was a checkbox that I could untick to NOT make some convertion "if special characters" seemed weird as the did.
I missed this all the times I tested the migration tool but last night I saw it and that made it all good.
Now the "small" job is done, the big one is for me to manually try to convert all pictures that some addon created links for in the old software and this tool is not available in the new forum software but that is another story that won't bother you with (maybe )
