Change appearance of GRUB


Call me stupid, but is there a way to change the appearance of the GRUB screen at startup?

yep yep- check out the grub manual: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html
at risk of sounding un helpful, specific link is here:
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html#color

- you need to edit menu.lst with this stuff.

titanium_geek (ooh- 15 mins for a response..)

I don't have the GIMP, and I am having trouble figuring out how to load it. help...

You don't have the GIMP? What distribution are you using?

Suse 9.3-- I have to have it, I just can't find it. I tried downloading it, and i still can't find it.

I ran through the instructions... the only problem is that I couldn't copy to the boot/grub directory - access is denied. what gives?

are you running as root? (the best way is to use su)

su is like this:
$ su
Password: *type root password*
#now try
