CentOS 7 internet installation source failing
Hey all, I'm trying to install CentOS 7 on my laptop (yes, again) and I'm having a problem -- when I get to the INSTALLATION SUMMARY page I apparently lose my install source and I get the following error: "Error setting up base repository." I've tried using a USB drive and a DVD (two different downloads) and they both get lost at this point. I decided to try to change my INSTALLATION SOURCE to the internet but no joy. I have my NIC configured and it shows as connected but I can't get any movement on the install. Googling this problem tells me that using the following URL:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/
should allow the installation to proceed but I still get the repository error. Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Joe B

just do a normal DEFAULT desktop install
then AFTER it is installed customize it
picking and choosing what to install at the time of install has been a known problem for cent and fedora
burn the iso image to dvd
and do a normal default install

My problem is that I can't do any install. As soon as the installation process gets to the INSTALLATION SUMMARY screen I lose my connection to the install media and I get the "Error setting up base repository" error message. INSTALLATION SOURCE and SOFTWARE SELECTION have the orange error triangles on them.
Thanks,
Joe B

Are you sure you are losing the install media, or is it possible the installer is having problems setting up the repository on the hard drive or in the RAM? Does the laptop have sufficient RAM to handle the install? Does the machine meet the system requirements for your OS?

Hey all, I have found that going to the URL install is about the only way to get it working. Sometimes, if I point it to the hard drive and then enter sr0 a couple of times, I can get it to see the CD again and the install continues. But not always. As to the hardware, I have plenty of hard drive space, RAM and computing power. I decided to go back to OpenSuSE for my laptop because it's been problem free for me in the past. I'll look at CentOS again in the future.
Thanks,
Joe B
