CentOS 6: DVD repository works only from yum command line, not from GUI
Hi all,
I have a fresh CentOS 6 installation on my laptop.
However I realized I didn't install some SW packages I need to run the wlan adapter, so I don't have internet connection from this laptop until I set up the driver properly.
I disabled all the repo files in the /etc/yum.repo.d/ directory except for the media repo and verified the correct path to the CentOS DVD (/media/CetOSxxx_Final/)
I then tried to install some random package using YUM and it worked fine, yum searched the dvd, found the SW and installed it.
However when I open the add/remove SW GUI and go to a specific group and then refresh, I get an error;
No network connection available
cannot refresh cache whilst offline
I also double checked that only the "media repository" is checked in the "software source" window.
As per my understanding YUM is the underlying tool used in the GUI, so it doesn't make sense to me that YUM works fine from the command line and the GUI does not work.
Another error I noticed is when I go to the "package collections" group i get an error:
The group list was invalid
Details: No groups could be found. A cahce refresh should fix this
Of course when I refresh the cache I get the error message described in the first post.
