centos 5: is the epel repo dead?

today on my centos 5.11 (64 bit) server I cannot get anything out of the epel repo. Everything I've tried gives http - 404 not found for the mirrors of the epel repo. I've googled around and tried several solutions but nothing works, the epel repo appears fubar. Has it been discontinued? other repos are working fine.
ps: moving the epel repo out of /etc/yum.repos.d did work and then 'yum install' also began to work again smoothly.
does anyone know what's going on with epel?

It seems to be there?
Quick installation guide: http://www.rackspace.com/knowledge_c...os-and-red-hat
Link to epel repo: https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/
Maybe it was just overloaded, that happens sometimes.

Latest "5.11" is http://ftp.crc.dk/fedora-epel/5/i386...5-4.noarch.rpm
>>> epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm

@knudfl thankyou for that link. I completely uninstalled the epel I had and re-installed from the link you gave and now yum update is working again. Thanks very much.
